How did your experience or appreciation of the potter's wheel change after you experienced it for a class period? I thought it was very cool how he made making pottery look so easy. It gave me ideas for what I can do. What did you learn about from Doug Reynold's? I learned about different kinds of designs and the tools you can use like a fork to make wave-like lines and using sponges to smooth things out. Steps to using potter's wheel 1. Wedge clay, make sure there are not air pockets 2. Suction clay onto wheel, put it in the center, and wiggle it until it's really stuck 3. Center the clay, breaking it in 4. Check for depth, make sure the bottom is not too thin so it won't break. 5. Width, make it wider 6. Height, make it higher 7. Curves, make it curvy, give it more shape 8. Cutting off, use wire to cut the clay off of the wheel 9. Clean up | |
